Not sure had a feeling he had AA or QQ/JJ…on a side note I battled back after this hand to 11K only to get set over set 🙁 So no 2 million for me obv. Just love 3 month downswings!!!!!

On a side note, Id be interested in being backed so I dont have to quit this game…OPR BennyBills(pokerstars/FTP) and BIGshmuck (merge)

I used to think I was good at this game

post flop is tough, JJ and QQ are definitely possibile, althought i might find myself calling that down,

so im interested to see what others say. I say 4 bet pre? What do others think about the pre flop play?

His reraise looks strong since you raised the BB. However, I like to get it in preflop if I can with kings when it is headsup.  Not sure if I would 5-bet 2700 or shove, but preflop with kings agianst one player I like to be aggressive.

I 3bet pre, he 4bet, so I should 5bet?…I just dont know what he would open UTG and 4bet with especially when I made my 3bet pretty big other than AA, maybe QQ. Is there any way he has AK or TT? I admit I was also in this situation 30 minutes prior in another tourney and the guy had AA but I got it in pre, so I was definately gun shy. There is also the dynamic that this is literally the 5th hand of the biggest online tourney of the year…or maybe Im just giving him way too much credit. I OPR'd him and his stats were HIDDEN so I guess that is an indication that he is capable…

I think the best move would be to reraise his bet on the flop to see how he reacts…maybe?

Hmmm this is a really tough spot. My first instinct was that you played it fine, but on second thought, it really doesn’t make sense for him to be double-barreling here with AA. Because it’s the 5th hand with no history, he really can’t expect to get 3 streets of value from worse in a 4bet pot, and he would have to be concerned about you having JJ or QQ, so he really should be checking AA behind on the turn for pot control.

If that’s the case then his realistic value range is super narrow. JJ and QQ only. On the other hand, he should be expecting your range to be quite narrow as well to 3bet an UTG open OOP 5th hand of the tournament. He might think you have something like TT-KK, AQ+. he may even exclude KK from your range, if he expects you to 5-bet that pre. So from his point of view, your range looks pretty strong on this turn, as he can probably narrow it down to TT-KK after you called the flop. So it doesn’t really make sense for him to be trying to bluff you off here.

Hmmm this is really tough, his value range is so narrow, but at the same time i guess he just has to have it assuming he’s a thinking player. And then there’s always the possibility that he actually does have AA and just doesn’t know how to slow down.

I would feel really weak folding here, but i think it’s the right decision. I like your line on every street actually, well played.

You need to accumulate fast in the Sunday Mill. It becomes shallow a lot faster than people realize.

He can absolutely be 2 barreling with AA here.

I agree with putting him on 1 of the 3 pairs that now beat you. If you donk bet the flop, you would have more info to work with but could now be pushed off the pot, although it would cost you about the same as it did anyway.

Check calling is still possible for that price, right? but would probably face an uncallable bet on the river, so i dont like this play.

I suppose you could check raise this flop, put him to a decision that would give you all the info you need for a higher price, but i dont think this a good play so early in. I would much sooner get my chips in pre in this spot. looks like a relatively good spot for a double up.

By the way, if ur just flat calling his 4bet pre, what kind of flop would you have been happy to play?, J high looks good to me!

All in all, you didnt win the hand and lost the least amount of money possible.

Think you played it fine. My only thought is that his bets are on the smaller side. Yes this could be extreme value but he could also be trying to get in a cheap two barrel with a hand like TT. With the small bets I would not be able to help myself and would call turn and re-eval river.

Interesting hand for sure.

Ranging him is quite hard. Are TT and/or AK,AQs in his range here? Depends on his skillevel. I can see this line for a fish holding AK, especially as hawkeye said because of the betsizing, I prob call turn and soulread the river.

All other legit 4b hands at this point in the tourney are QQ,JJ and AA.

As I now have sharkscoped the guy, I see he has a star for 6max sng at lower levels. If he plays mtts similar to that you made a good fold, cause you dont beat anything a good sng player would bet in this situation after the Q also turned.

yeah his 4 bet to oop 3bet preante preflop range just has to be JJ,QQ or AA like 99% of the time here so by the turn you just know you are beat most times just not worth going any further this earlier imo nh.

hmmmm pretty much agree with yall but what about 5bet/folding? If he's a good player he's folding to a 5bet this early JJ, QQ and AK for sure, so you can be 99% sure he has AA if he 6bet shoves on you, and this way the hand plays much easier and you dont have to soulread villian post…Though he could have KK too… surprised

Why not reraise preflop to further polarize his range, esp since you'll be OOP OTF?

My guess is because it's so early but want to confirm.  I've been making tons of stupid mistakes lately so I need someone to explain BASIC stuff to me these days…lol
